BABY & TODDLER ROOM

Baby & Toddler Room

Baby & Toddler Room

We have a separate area for our younger less mobile babies at Dockside Day Nursery, they can see their peers toddling around from a more protected space set up for their interests, care, learning and development. In the first year, babies learn to focus their vision, reach out, explore, and learn about the things that are around them. Cognitive, or brain development means the learning process of memory, language, thinking, and reasoning. Listening, understanding, and knowing the names of people and things are all a part of language development. During this stage, babies also are developing bonds of love and trust with their parents and others as part of social and emotional development. The way parents cuddle, hold, and play with their baby will set the basis for how they will interact with them and others. We are providing a warm, nurturing and loving environment for babies to grow and develop following home routines, supported by knowledgeable and caring staff.

Toddlers are hard at work learning important physical skills as they learn muscle control, balance, and coordination. Each new skill lets them progress to the next one, building on a foundation that leads to more complex physical movements.

Toddlers always want to do more, which can motivate them to keep trying until they manage a new skill, no matter what it takes. We understand a toddler's natural desire to keep on moving. Even at this early age, children establish patterns of activity that carry through the rest of childhood. So, an active toddler is likely to remain active as they grow. Playing and learning are completely natural for toddlers, so developing their physical skills should be fun and games for them. Staff give toddlers many opportunities to practice their developing skills with support, so are safe while they learn. Our toddlers are developing in many ways, so we provide opportunities for them to explore, ask questions, use his or her imagination, and practice fine motor skills, such as building with blocks or painting with a brush.

Our supportive and knowledgeable staff provide a fabulous range of learning experience for children using their interests and next steps, we encourage our parents and carers to provide lots of information about new interests or skills children learn. Our exciting toddler room environment engages children to explore, learn, try new things and grow.
