Partnership with Parents

No one knows your child better than you, so our partnership with parents is integral to our way of working. We ensure you have the time to discuss your child’s individual needs and progress with their appointed key person. However, our ‘open-door’ policy means that parents are welcome to come and speak to us at any time. We promote home learning and encourage parents to participate and contribute to their child’s development, sharing information on a daily basis. Working in partnership with parents and/or carers is central to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS 2017). Consulting parents about children’s early experiences helps staff plan for effective learning at the nursery, and helps them support parents in continuing their children's learning development at home.

Settling In

Your first settling in sessions will give you and your child an opportunity to get to know your child’s Key Person and explore the environment. It is so important for the key person and parents to share regular information including updates about new interests and new skills to ensure we are supporting your child at nursery. Settling sessions allow your child to gradually transition into their room at a pace suitable for both children and parents. The first session we set up your childs file and this is where we exchange all the important information, we also ask you to bring in the detailed birth certificate and red book. After this first session we then arrange a pattern of settling sessions, each child is different so settling can vary from child to child
